Smart lighting is a lighting technology designed for energy efficiency. This may include high efficiency fixtures and automated controls that can make adjustments based on conditions such as occupancy or daylight availability or simply obeying instructions from a Central System.
Sensor IT’s Smart Lighting prototype can both automate lighting control through sensors or by means of remotely issued commands.
Sensor IT’s Smart Lighting system can be implemented either using the Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) standard, relying on DALI-compatible drivers as the final element for controlling luminaires, or using their own light dimming solution.
If deployed using DALI compliant elements, control commands are delivered to the DALI driver wirelessly, by means of the Lorikeet® protocol, which is a communication protocol based on LoRa® communication stack. The following figure provides a high-level overview of the system.
Sensor IT Dimming Elements
In this configuration, no DALI components are required, and Sensor IT components interface directly with the luminaires. The following figure represents this configuration.
