Most of Sensor IT's products are customised to specific requirements, hence we do not offer a wide range of products available Off The Shelf. We, however, manufacture a range of products that we like to classify as "Building Blocks" designed to help those who want to gain a footing in the IoT world design their own prototypes.

Ocassionally, such as in the case of Covid-19 related products, we have designed and built a number of products that can be used without further customisation. In any case, all the products in this page can be customised to specific requirements, if and when required.

Carbon Dioxide Monitor Covid-19 Prevention Device

Sensor IT’s Air Quality Monitor is based on an industrial-level sensor capable of providing detailed, real-time data on CO2 levels, informing the user when a room needs ventilation to improve the air quality and reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection. The device is capable of connecting to a cloud-based dashboard through a simple, ubiquitous WIFI network, without the need of additional hardware – as other connected monitors do.

The device incorporates an innovative self-calibrating functionality that ensures accuracy, longevity and reliability. The device is fully designed and made in the UK, and it is fitted with a real, professional-level CO2 sensor, as opposed to other devices that only provide eCO2 (estimated) concentration values.

Sensor IT’s Air Quality Monitor presents CO2 concentration in the air, and other ambient data, to the user through a graphical dashboard showing a number of parameters that include:

  • Carbon Dioxide Concentration (CO2) in Parts Per Million (ppm)
  • Air Temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit degrees
  • Air relative humidity (%)
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)

The Monitor also displays historical data on CO2 concentration, taking a sample every six minutes, covering a period of one hour in total.

Cloud-based Dashboard

The monitor implements full WIFI connectivity and can send data in real-time to a cloud-based dashboard.

Through a full graphical dashboard, visual, centralised data can be monitored across entire buildings or zones.

The data can also be accessed through a mobile App, compatible with Android and iOS.

Note: Dashboard requires access fee

Sensor Values

Examples of CO2 concentration and the correspondent Air Quality are provided below.

CO2 Concentration

Air Quality
350-400Normal background concentration in outdoor ambient air. This concentration can only be achieved with extremely good ventilation
400-600Concentrations typical of occupied indoor spaces with very good air exchange
600-900Good air quality. If possible, it is recommendable to keep the concentration closer to the lower limit
900-1,200This concentration indicates that the air is starting to get stale and needs ventilation
1,200-2,000Poor air quality. Rooms with this concentration should be ventilated with fresh air as quickly as possible

Very poor air quality.  The room urgently needs fresh air

This device implements a professional-level, industrial-grade sensor that implements a patented  self-calibration logic. This logic virtually eliminates the need for manual calibration in applications where the indoor CO2 level drops to outside levels during unoccupied periods (e.g. during evening hours). This described logic is a special software routine in the sensor that remembers the background readings for 14 consecutive evenings, calculates if there is a sensor drift, and then corrects for it. The sensor will typically reach its operational accuracy after 25 hours of continuous operation at a condition that is exposed to ambient reference levels. Sensors will maintain accuracy specifications with the self-calibration logic enabled, given that it is at least three times in 14 days exposed to the reference value and this reference value is the lowest concentration to which the sensor is exposed

The device conforms to Sensor IT’s Open Architecture Design (SOAD) introduces a new and innovative concept for Internet of Things devices, bringing a new level of adaptability and customisation to everything we design and manufacture whereby they can be customised to meet particular and specific requirements, as required by our customers.

The Air Quality Agent could, for instance, be redesigned to integrate with the customer’s monitoring, or even their SCADA, systems, with the data transmitted adapted to their specific communication protocol.
